Update On City Parks

What’s Happening at Your Parks?

There has been quite a bit happening behind the scenes throughout the parks lately, so we wanted to share a few updates with our community!

🚶🏻‍♂️Benzinger Park Pedestrian Pathway

-Following the flooding earlier in July, portions of the pathway at Benzinger Park experienced significant washouts and erosion. Our Facilities Maintenance Manager, Scott, has been hard at work repairing and rebuilding the damaged areas.

Having dedicated maintenance staff within our department has allowed us to address more projects like this in-house and continue making improvements throughout our park system. We’re extremely appreciative of the work that went into getting the pathway back into shape!

⚠ Benzinger Park Pedestrian Bridge (Fleming Road)

-We know many of you have been patiently waiting for the return of the pedestrian bridge. We’re excited to share that the new bridge is currently undergoing fabrication and are hopeful that installation and excavation will be completed by the end of October!

🏐Benzinger Park Volleyball Courts

-The sand volleyball courts also sustained significant damage during the July flooding. After reviewing the work needed, the decision was made to hold off on restoration until Spring 2027.

🥒Memorial Park Pickleball Courts

-The perimeter fencing portion of this project has now been completed. There is still additional work remaining as part of the overall project, but we’re excited to see the new courts taking shape!

💜Kaulmont Park Playground

-The playground at Kaulmont Park remains closed after safety concerns were identified with the existing playground equipment. We are working through the planning and replacement process to determine the best path forward. Plans will be shared with the community once finalized.

Some projects can feel like they’re moving slowly from the outside. There are often many steps happening behind the scenes before there is something new to see in the park.
