Residents in several areas of the city reported brown or dirty water from their faucets, showers and toilets last night, after the storms. St. Marys Water Authority reported this morning that the water is safe. Thursday’s storm caused one of the pump stations in the city to shut off abruptly, causing the water in the pipes to get stirred up, which led to the dirty water situation that many residents experienced.
The water authority began the flushing process last night in an effort to clear the water, that process is continuing today. Officials At the St. Marys Water Authority suggest that residents who are affected should run their water for a period of time, in addition, flushing their toilets a few times to aid in clearing the pipes. Officials believe the situation will be cleared up today.
