Updates to Emporium Town Square

For years the vacant lot in downtown Emporium has been utilized for events ranging from the Christmas Tree Lighting, Farmers Market, BBQ and ecumenical events. In time for the holiday season a permanent pavilion/stage will be installed. Nittany MinitMart has donated a custom-made pavilion which will serve as a stage for bands and vendors. The 12x24 vinyl structure ensures low maintenance and will be wired for lights.

During one of the meetings with Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tina Solak, Nittany MinitMart representative Nicole Masullo was asked if the company would consider funding a pavilion/stage. Solak says Masullo immediately accepted the idea and the two worked on finding a customized pavilion. Emporium Borough workers have prepared the site, and Graham Electric is going to wire the structure. Talks continue about other improvements to the lot known as Emporium Town Square. They range from bathrooms to handicap parking.

Solak says the makeshift stage, which is a revamped trailer donated by Emporium Borough, will be retired. “The stage served the community for many years.” The backdrop was built by volunteers with lumber provided by L&M Lumber, the steps and floor of the trailer rebuilt by Hostetlar Construction and the borough crew maintained and set up the stage for each event.

The location for the Nittany MinitMart pavilion was selected since Emporium Borough owns that strip of land that was once occupied by Admit One. The rest of the downtown lot is privately owned. Any organization wishing to use the lot or pavilion/stage must contact Emporium Borough for the request form.
