Women On Target Clinic Held At Ridgway Rifle Club

The Elk County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Women on Target Clinic on the 19th of September. The clinic was held at the Ridgway Rifle Club on Grant Road in Ridgway Township. Ten women attended the clinic. The day began with registration followed by classroom instruction, a lunch break and individual instruction on the indoor firing range.

The Women on Target training is a nationally recognized program developed and sponsored by the National Rifle Association. Clinics are restricted to women and are designed to teach firearm safety with handguns and the fundamentals of marksmanship. Women of all skill levels are accommodated. Firearm ownership is not required to attend the clinic. This marks the 38th clinic that has been conducted since the Sheriff’s Office began offering it in 2017.

The program is made available at no cost with the support and collaboration of several organizations and National Rifle Association instructors trained in the safe operation of firearms.

Interested women can find the application to register for a clinic on the Elk County Website Sheriff link at www.co.elk.pa.us. There is a waiting list, so anyone interested should complete the application and will be notified when their name is reached.
