Bertha May Barnhart, age 72, of Court Road, Ridgway, PA, died January 3, 2026 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital of Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness. A daughter of the late Robert Jack Maloney and the late Beverly (Shobert) Bearer, she was born on November 24, 1953 in Ridgway, PA. On January 29, 1972 she married Charles Edward Barnhart, Jr, who predeceased her on March 2, 1991.
Bertha is survived by her Fiancé of 34 years, David Pontious; four children, Charles Edward (Sabrina) Barnhart III of Ridgway, Charlene (Craig) Bailey of Canada, Beverly (Wayne) Williams of St. Marys and William Barnhart of Ridgway; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Debbie) Maloney of North Carolina and Gerald (Julie) Maloney of Kersey; and a sister, Terry (Steve) Bowser of Ridgway.
Besides her parents and her husband, Bertha was preceded in death by a son, Paul James Barnhart, a sister, Marjorie Barnhart and a brother, John Maloney.
Bertha worked as a cook for local restaurant for most of her life. She was a member of Halton Church of Christ and past member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. Living most of her life in Ridgway, she enjoyed going to Camp, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
There will be no public visitation.
A Celebration of Life will be held, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Halton Church of Christ, Evergreen Drive, Ridgway, PA.
