City Shade Tree Commission Tree Planting At Luhr Park (Video)

Fifth grade students from South St. Marys Street Elementary School gathered at Luhr Park to take part in the annual Arbor Day celebration hosted by the Shade Tree Commission of St. Marys.

As part of the celebration on Thursday afternoon, West Creek Nursery in St. Marys demonstrated how to plant a tree. Students then took turns in assisting with the tree planting process including shoveling soil, installing a sign marking the tree’s dedication to the class and spreading and compacting mulch around the tree.
