Elk County Community Foundation Awards Grants To Several Organizations

Harrison and Muriel Dauer Stackpole Family Fund Awards $15,500 to Support Community Projects

The Harrison and Muriel Dauer Stackpole Family Fund, administered by the Elk County Community Foundation, recently awarded $15,500 in grants to four organizations through its July 2026 grant cycle. The grants will support projects that provide charitable benefits to residents throughout the community, including improved accessibility, youth programming, food assistance, and community events and activities.

The goal of the Harrison and Muriel Dauer Stackpole Family Fund is to continue the good work that Harrison and Muriel Dauer Stackpole carried out in the community during their lifetime and to support the philanthropic causes that were important to them. An advisory committee made up of family and friends of Harrison and Muriel reviews grant applications and distributes grants four times each year.

The committee looks for projects that address basic human needs; improve access to education and safe recreation for those who are marginalized and the most vulnerable in our community, specifically children, seniors, and individuals with special needs; and improve the quality of life in our community through projects that benefit residents and their families.

The following organizations and charitable projects received funding during the July 2026 grant cycle:

American Legion Post 103 received $4,000 toward the construction of a handicap-accessible ramp. The grant is designated specifically for the charitable and public benefit of improving accessibility to the building for community events and activities, as well as for those who utilize the facility while providing services to the community, including the Burial Detail.

Boys & Girls Club of St. Marys received $5,000 toward the renovation of its Little Kids Room. The project will improve the space used to provide programming and activities for younger children served by the organization.

Agape Assembly of God received $3,000 to support the charitable, community-serving purposes of its project, specifically activities and events that are open to and benefit the public.

Christian Food Bank received $3,500 to support its Food Boxes program, helping provide food assistance to individuals and families in need throughout the community.

Together, the four grants represent $15,500 invested in charitable projects that directly benefit residents and strengthen the Elk County community.
