Fire Companies Given More Flexibility to Fundraise Under Senate Bill

Bipartisan legislation on its way to becoming state law would allow fire companies to conduct two online raffles in 2027 to assess the potential benefits for the departments’ coffers.
I voted in favor of Senate Bill 398, which would affect fire companies that already hold small games of chance licenses. The measure is on its way to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s desk to be signed into law.
The fire companies holding online raffles would sell tickets to be purchased with debit or credit cards only. Ticket holders would need to be at least 18 years old and physically present in Pennsylvania when buying the ticket.
This is an important pilot program to help our volunteer firefighters raise money. First responders consistently step up in times of need, but they have so many demands on their shoulders when it comes to fundraising and training. I hope the governor signs this legislation to further ease those pressures.
