Fun Friday comes to Cameron County this week in time for a 3-day weekend for state and federal workers. The event Friday in Sinnemahoning was forced to be moved to Emporium. Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tina Solak explains the chamber wanted to take advantage of the location in Sinnemahoning and attract motorcycle and jeep owners. However, recently key vendors pulled out forcing the chamber to bring the event to Emporium.

Tubby’s Tavern on East Third Street and the band Vinny and the Mudflaps agreed to host the event Friday night 4-10pm. “Tubby’s has food, beverages and a large indoor venue to host the band,” says Solak. The chamber hopes riders will come explore the loops created by the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau. Historic Route 120 begins in Ridgway, rides through Emporium and ends in Lock Haven. Another ride is the 86 mile loop called Wild Elk Country. Of course, one of the most famous is Wykoff Run Road.

A family fun night that has always been planned for the Emporium Town Square Friday night 8-10 remains scheduled. Prior to the showing of Monsters Inc, attendees can try their hand on Chamber Golf, pick up glow in the dark patriotic items while enjoying popcorn or purchasing ice cream from Brandy Camp Creamery.

Fun Friday replaces Second Saturday. When the volunteers that organized Second Saturdays for the past few years retired the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce picked up the vacancies. “We recognize that having events draw people to the area and create a positive atmosphere,” says Solak. Other Fun Fridays are scheduled for July and August. Follow on Facebook Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center for up-to-date information.
