Helen M. Newton, 85, Emporium

Helen M. Newton, 85, of Emporium, PA, passed away at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, following a brief illness. She was born May 13, 1940, in Ridgway, PA, a daughter of the late Bernard and Catherine Songer Bauer.

Helen graduated from Cameron County High School and devoted many years of service to Caldwell Corporation until her retirement in January 2022 at the remarkable age of 82. A woman of deep faith and gentle spirit, she was a dedicated member of St. Mark Catholic Church, where she served as an organist in the music ministry for more than 50 years. Her music touched countless lives, and she was known for her kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Helen found joy in sharing time with her children and grandchildren, attending parish events, and offering quiet acts of support and encouragement to those around her.

She is survived by her son, Brian Newton (Deanna) of Brockway; daughter, Lynn Summerson (David) of Emporium; son, Ben Newton (Tara) of Emporium; son, Aaron Newton of Emporium; daughter, Heidi Aikens (Albert “Abby”) of Emporium; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Bauer of Emporium, and many very special nieces and nephews whom she considered an extension of her own children.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kira Leigh, in infancy; two brothers, James and Ben Bauer; and a sister, Linda Caldwell.

There will be No Visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA.
