Raymond J. “Bucky” Parana, 89, of Bisbee, AZ, and formerly of Glen Mayo Rd., Johnsonburg, passed away Wednesday, November 19th, at the residence of his daughter Nancy and son Ken. He was born January 27, 1936, in Johnsonburg, a son to the late Frank and Mary Raubenstrauch Parana. On November 16, 1963, in St. Tobias Church, Brockway, he married Norma Jean Miller. They were married 56 years until she preceded him in death on October 12, 2020.
A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, he had been living with his daughter in Arizona since 2024. He attended Johnsonburg public schools and was a member of Holy Rosary Church. Bucky loved spending time with his family, hunting and ice fishing. His love of traveling and adventurous spirit took him to 49 States, Canda, Mexico and Europe. He was well known for his daily walks around his beloved Johnsonburg.
He retired from Willamette Industries, Johnsonburg Mill in 1998 after 42 years of service.
Bucky is survived by his children, Nancy J. Parana of Bisbee, AZ, Kenneth P. Parana of Bisbee, AZ and Raymond J. Parana (Elaine) of Johnsonburg, and his grandchildren Wesley Plants and his longtime companion Rihanna Ferguson, David Plants (Kaysea), Jessica Plants and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family of 8 brothers and sisters.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ray is predeceased by brothers Stephen, Frank, Andrew and Joe Parana and sisters Anna Malone, Irene Zelechoski, Theresa Casilio and Mary Willow.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond J. “Bucky” Parana to be conducted at Holy Rosary Church on Saturday November 29 at 10:30 AM with Fr. David Wilson, Pastor as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F, Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapek, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, on Saturday morning from 9 AM until time of service.
