On Monday, March 23, the Pennsylvania Literacy Coalition hosted the 2026 PA Literacy Summit and Day of Action in Harrisburg and bring together educators, school and district leaders, advocates, policymakers, and community partners from across the Commonwealth united around one shared goal: ensuring literacy is a statewide priority so every child has access to high-quality, evidence-based literacy instruction.
As part of the summit, legislators, educators, and advocates will hold a press conference to advocate for the funding and support needed to fully implement Pennsylvania’s updated literacy policies.
Speakers will include Dr. Kymyona Burk who helped implement and oversee the Mississippi Miracle, which drove some of the largest gains in reading scores in the country and moved Mississippi from near the bottom of national rankings to a national model for evidence-based literacy reform.
