Mary L. Foster, 79, St. Marys

Mary L. Foster, 79, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 124 Lafayette Street, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

She was born March 8, 1946, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Clarence and Beatrice Guth Simbeck. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1964.

On February 14, 1970, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she married the late Robert J. Foster, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2014.

Mary is survived by her two daughters: Lisa Watson (Tim Squires) of St. Marys and Barbara Foster (Alvin Hasselman) of St. Marys; a son, Tony Foster (Jess) of Ridgway; her grandson, Parker Watson (Maddie Eckert); a sister, Ellen Olson (Jerry) of Kersey; and a brother, Bill Simbeck (“Punky”) of Cory, PA.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Caruso.

Mary was a parishioner of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and put her family and faith above all else. She enjoyed her soap operas and television game shows and would spend time crocheting.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 10:00AM with Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
