New Scam Alert From PA Attorney General

Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement officer is alerting residents about an email and text message scam that claims to be from a municipal court.

According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, many of the messages appear to come from Philadelphia Municipal Court, but the scam may impersonate other courts or government agencies.

The messages allege an unpaid parking ticket that requires immediate payment or a court appearance with consequences for non-payment, including additional fines, driver’s license suspension or court enforcement action.

Anyone who gets a message like this should not click the link or copy it to your browser. Instead, file a complaint – including a copy of the email or text message received – to the Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
