PEMA Reminds Residents To Be Prepared For Winter Storm

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency is urging residents to prepare for the major winter storm expected to hit over the weekend, which could dump a foot of snow in some places.

The agency says residents should plan ahead by making sure they have a place to stay indoors during the worst of the storm. Residents should also postpone travel if they can when the storm arrives on Saturday night and continues through Sunday.

Drivers can also check 511pa.com for travel conditions and road closures.

It’s also advised that residents keep their devices, such as cellphones and computers, charged in case they need to contact someone in an emergency. Having extra chargers, nonperishable food, and winter weather supplies in your car is also recommended, as is having at least half a tank of gas

PEMA also says residents should gather the following supplies in case they are snowed in for several days.

Bottled water

Nonperishable food

Snow supplies, such as ice melt and shovels

Manual can opener

Baby items, including diapers and formula

Flashlight and batteries

Blankets

Pet food
