Richard W. Cashmer, 93, St. Marys

Richard W. Cashmer, 93, of 295 W. Theresia Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Friday, January 2, 2026 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

He was born December 13, 1932, in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph and Rose Feldbauer Cashmer. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was employed at St. Marys Carbon as a Supervisor. Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country from 1953 to 1961. On November 8, 1958, in Sacred Heart Church, Richard married the late Elsie Wissinger, who preceded him in death on March 21, 2018.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Pitman (Ed) of Grantville, PA; four sons: Michael Cashmer (Linda) of Kersey, David Cashmer (Kim) of Weedville, James Cashmer (Veronica) of DuBois, and John Cashmer (Nicky) of St. Marys; nine grandchildren: Jessica Fritz, Tyler Cashmer (Colby), Tessa Cashmer, Mark Pitman (Andrea), Rachel Pitman, Michaela Cashmer, Mitchell Cashmer, Makenzie Cashmer, Maddie Cashmer (Eric), and Hunter Cashmer; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Jackson.

In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Denny Cashmer.

Richard was a faithful and familiar presence at Sacred Heart Church, where he served for many years as an usher. He could be counted on at the church to greet people with a smile and a kind word. Away from Church, he found joy on the golf course, in the outdoors while hunting, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. He was a member of the Quarterback’s Club and could be found supporting his grandchildren at their many activities. Whether sharing a story, a laugh, or an opinion about a game, he valued time spent with his friends and family.
