Mr. Oknefski has received a generous grant from the Ridgway Borough Charitable Fund held at the Elk County Community Foundation to use towards the goal of purchasing a laser engraver! Once purchased, it will be installed in Mr. O’s Technology/Manufacturing classrooms for his students to train on and create, further preparing them for a rapidly-evolving 21st-century tech/manufacturing workplace.

The laser engraver will also be made available to all faculty and their students at Ridgway Area Middle/High School to use for educational and other school-related projects!

The grant check was presented to Mr. O and some of his students—as well as Mrs. Petrosky and Mr. Fordoski—by ECCF Executive Director Tiffany Boschert and RBCF grant committee member Joe Bullers.

The Ridgway Borough Charitable Fund was established by the late educator Sara-Jane Stackpole. Fun Fact: As a teenager, Mr. O worked for Ms. Stackpole as a handyman around her house in Ridgway. Through the laser engraver, their work together and her legacy as a local teacher will continue onward in a very special way!
