State Police Seeks Owners Of Seized Gold And Addition Scam Victims

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop F Milton is trying to identify the owners of approximately $200,000 in gold bars currently being held as evidence and anyone else told by people posing as federal officers to buy gold or cash and hand it to a courier.

On September 10, 2026, Troopers stopped a silver 2025 Honda Accord, California registration 9TTS143, on Interstate 80 near mile marker 203. Gold and an identity-theft affidavit were found in the car. Two occupants were taken into custody. A victim later said that the Honda looked like the car used to pick up gold on September 03, 2026.

Investigators believe some of the gold bars were taken from other victims on September 9 or 10, 2026. Earlier on September 10, before the stop, the Honda was in the Coudersport and Smethport area.

Callers claim to be ICE, DHS, or other federal officers and have used names such as Andrew HALL or John ALLOTT. They tell the victim a criminal case is tied to their Social Security number, that they must cooperate and stay silent, and often to open Telegram and text “I am okay” every two hours. The victim is then told to pull bank or retirement funds, buy gold, wrap it, and give it to a person in a tinted out-of-state car.
