Stephen C. Sorg, 85, Weedville

Stephen C. Sorg, age 85, of Sunflower Road, Weedville, PA, died October 3, 2026 at Penn Highlands-Elk. A son of the late Martin and Martha (Wolfe) Sorg, he was born on December 20, 1940 in St. Marys, PA. On October 8, 1966 he married Paula (Breindel), who survives at home.


Along with his wife, Steve is survived by three children, Stephanie Clifford of Kersey, Jacqueline Higgins (Rick Krise) of St. Marys and Brett (Anne) Sorg of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Thomas, Ashley, Zachary and Marley; two sisters, Mary Jane Ruth of Kersey and Florence Peterson of California; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Sorg; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Besides his parents, Steve was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jeffrey Clifford; four siblings, Verna, Joseph, Dennis and Peggie in her youth; and two brothers-in-law, Arthur Ruth and Thomas Peterson.


Steve was born and raised in St. Mary’s, graduating Central Catholic High School Class of 1958. He worked as a Millwright for Stackpole and Mersen, retiring in 2003. He has been a resident and active member of Bennetts Valley for the past fifty years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he enjoyed volunteering his time, serving as Lector, Usher, Adult Altar Server, Parish Council, Mother’s Day Breakfast, Fish Fry’s and other events. He was also a member of the Bennetts Valley Lions Club for over 40 years, holding many different offices and receiving the Melvin Jones Award. And, he had served on the Bennetts Valley Labor Day Committee for over twenty seven years.


Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and also on Thursday, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield.


Mass of Christian Burial will take place, 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2026 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, PA, with Father Mark Mastrian.


Interment will take place in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
