Man Facing DUI Charges After Traffic Stop In Cameron County
State police in Emporium reported conducting a traffic stop on Rich Valley Road in Shippen Township. After making contact with the operator, it was discovered the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken to Penn Highlands Elk for a blood test. The investigation is ongoing.


Elk County Community Foundation Grants Available, Apply By January 15th
The Elk County Community Foundation is accepting applications through January 15 for thousands of dollars in grants currently available to eligible organizations during their open grant cycle. Organizations may currently submit applications for grant funding from the Harrison and Muriel Dauer Stackpole Family Fund, the newly named Elk County Community Fund, or the Elk County Society for Special Services Fund. St. Marys Pharmacy Moves To New Location Saturday, December 6th, Becomes Penn Highlands Community Pharmacy
St. Marys Pharmacy will be moving to the campus of Penn Highlands Elk on Saturday, December 6, 2025. The pharmacy will be open at its current location, 4 Railroad Street on Saturday, December 6 for prescription pickup only. The ability to process new prescriptions will be limited. The pharmacy will reopen on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the new location and with a new name - Penn Highlands Community Pharmacy-St. Marys.

State police were called to investigate a noise complaint In Tannery Heights in Shippen Township. No further information was made available.

State police said one person was taken into custody for violating a PFA order. The inciden twas investigated on Old West Creek Road in Shippen Township.


Emporium Woman Injured In Accident On 3rd Street
State police investigated a one-vehicle accident on 3rd Street in Emporium. Theresa Zoschg, 45, of Emporium was traveling south when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and struck and embankment. the driver was treated for injuries.


Deer Blamed For Accident On Route 120 In Cameron County
State police investigated an accident on Route 120 near Arrowhead Road in Shippen Township. According to police, Keith Summerson, 45, of Emporium was traveling east and after passing another vehicle, a deer entered the road. The vehicle was unable to avoid striking the deer. The driver was not injured.


St. Marys Man Involved In Accident In Sergeant Township
State police investigated a one-vehicle accident on Wilcox Clermont Road. Accordin gto police, Joseph Wright, 31, of St Marys we traveling south when a deer entered the roadway. The Wright vehicle swerved to avoid missing the deer, then lost control. His vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The driver was not injured.

St. Marys officially kicked off the holiday season with Light Up Night last Saturday. It was so nice to see such a huge crowd in the downtown area for the event. Deer Causes Accident On Bennetts Valley Highway
State police investigated an accident on the Bennetts Valley Highway. Police report that Benjamin Miller, 35, of Byrnedale was traveling south on Route 255 when a deer entered the road. Miller could not avoid striking the deer. Miller was not injured.

State police conducted a traffic stop on Krise Road in Fox Township. After investigation it was determined that the operator, a 51-year-old woman from Ridgway, was under the influence of alcohol. Charges were filed.

The deadline to apply for rebates on rent and property taxes paid in 2024 is Dec. 31. Income limits for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program increased this year to $46,520 for both homeowners and renters. If you were earning too much to qualify before, you may be eligible now. Women Who Care (WWC), a project of the Elk County Community Foundation, granted a total of $47,000 to eleven nonprofit organizations at their Annual Business Meeting held on October 15 at the Johnsonburg Firehall. Kersey Man Arrested After Domestic Incident In Fox Township
A Kersey man was arrested after allegedly strangling a woman during an argument. The incident occurred on November 2nd on Main Street in Fox Township. Police say a known 33-year-old man from Kersey had allegedly become angry with the victim where he then grabbed her by the throat and began to choke her. The man was arrested and taken to the Elk County Jail where he faces felony strangulation and assault charges.
