All Fired Up And Kickin' Ash BBQ Set For Saturday, September 26th In Downtown Emporium

Cameron County Chamber of Commerce All Fired Up Kickin Ash BBQ sponsored by Emporium Food Market ready to kick off September 26 in downtown Emporium. Competitors from the region will be looking to take home bragging rights and the $500 cash prize in the mystery meat category. The cut of meat is selected by personnel from Emporium Food Market. Competitors are not given any clues. Friday night chamber staff hands out the surprise and competitors start looking for recipes. In addition competitors who took part in the PA Wilds BBQ Circuit are eligible for a $300 cash prize. Each competitor will set up Friday night and begin seasoning, and stoking fires till serving time on Saturday at noon.

Allegheny Mountain Chapter of Nam Knights will be serving beverages Saturday. This year two bands will perform during the event. Old Skool takes the stage starting at 10 Saturday morning followed by Vinny and The Mudflaps from 1-4pm. The event fills the Town Square and provides seating for those purchasing food from the competitors. Chamber executive director Tina Solak notes, “This competition is unique that the public can purchase food from the competitors and then vote for their favorite. Most competitions have only the judges tasting.”

Competitors this year include Crazy Eyes from Cameron County, Bobby Q’s from Emporium, Smitty’s Eat-N-Shack from Emporium, Smoke ‘em if ye got ‘em from Cameron County, Everything Wood Fired from Benezette, Jason’s Smokin’ from Brockway, and 242 BBQ from Roulette.

In addition to the competitors several vendors will be selling items including Dempsey Homestead Sweets, Brandy Camp Creamery, Spolski Maple Syrup, and Fudgy Nuts. Rick Colander will be on site sharpening knives. The event is in its 9th year providing an economic opportunity for competitors, Emporium businesses and exposure to local organizations.
