Austin Receives Bridge Funding, Pays Fire Company

The Austin borough council acknowledged receipt of $500,000 in grant funds awarded through the Department of Community and Economic Development Multi-modal Transportation Fund for the Garretson Street and Horn Hollow Road bridge projects.

The Garretson Street project will be fully funded by the grant. The Horn Hollow Road bridge is in need of full replacement. Council has requested clarification from DCED as to whether or not the funds can be re-applied for shoring up the banks while council pursues additional funds to replace the bridge.

Council approved placing the road resurfacing project on Pennbid to solicit engineering bids. Plans are to do this project in three phases pending grant awards and availability of funding for the project.
