ECC Defeats Serra Catholic To Advance In The PIAA Baseball Playoffs

Elk County Catholic beat Serra Catholic, 4-3, in the opening round of the PIAA Class 1A playoffs at Berwind Park in St. Marys.
Gilmore got the win in relief of Jack Breindel. He went four innings, allowing one unearned run on a hit and two walks while hitting four batters and striking out four.
Breindel went three innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out two.
ECC will face District 6 champion Claysburg-Kimmel, an 11-10 winner in nine innings over Greensburg Central Catholic, in the quarterfinals on Thursday at a site and time to be announced.
