Tax Increases Announced For Austin

The Austin borough council recently voted to increase taxes by 3 mils for general purposes beginning in 2027.

This will bring the mileage to 18.25 mils, approximately an $8.25/month or $99 annually for the average property owner.

Additional millage includes 2.5 mils for fire, 0.25 for ambulance/rescue, 2 for street lighting and 1 for roads for a total of 21.25 mils.

Sewer and water rates will increase $3.50/month and $1.50/month, respectively, for a total of $5/month.
